DC Cherry Blossoms: The U.S. Capitol

Tidal Basin was packed this morning while the sunrise was very uneventful. I was disappointed that I missed an opportunity to capture a blue jay in pale pink cherry blossoms.

Special thanks to Matt Noyes, NECN Chief Meteorologist. The Tidal Basin sunrise photo was originally picked up by him minutes after I posted it on Instagram while I was still at Tidal Basin enjoying the morning sunshine. (Follow him on Facebook especially if you are in New England.) And then today, Jason Samenow, the weather editor of the Washington Post, used it in an article about the peak bloom of DC’s cherry blossoms. (Thank you, Jason!)

This afternoon I went to the Capitol to see if I get lucky with clouds again. Not really…but I did my usual trick with my iPhone anyway. My phone does not give me the subtlety and quality that a computer software can deliver, but I still enjoy experimenting what my HDR phone apps are capable of.

Hopefully the showers on Friday afternoon won’t destroy all the blossoms.
