Shipping all of the arts and artifacts from the Forbidden City in Beijing to Taipei is probably one of the smartest decisions that Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalist Party ever made. Anthony Bourdain visited this museum and said he found the pork of his dreams — a meat-shaped stone that looks like a piece of marinated pork belly. The meat- shaped stone is as famous as the Jadeite Cabbage — a piece of jade carved into a cabbage with a camouflaged grasshopper on top.
After I shot at dawn and sunrise once, there is no going back. The lighting in midday is just too plain. So, during this recent trip to Chicago, I made my sister wake up early with me to go to the Millennium Park for the sunrise.
It is impossible to not notice the publicity of this “encased sausage emporium” when you research must-eat’s in Chicago. Anthony Bourdain loved the foie gras sausage and duck fat fries in his show, No Reservations. Hot Doug’s is in his list of 13 places to eat before you die.
Sleeping in and amazing brunch marked my last day in DC. Can’t think of a better way.
My third day in DC turned out to be a day of cherry blossoms plus gourmet sandwiches. I had German fusion Argentine sandwiches for lunch and Spanish tapas-sized sandwiches from 100 Montaditos for dinner. Great food and amazing companies outweighed the blossoms.
In addition to places near the National Mall, the Washington National Cathedral is a fun place to photograph.
Beautiful rock formation and desert scenes in Arizona and Utah have always been on my list of top travel spots. I secretly really want to go with my dad with our cameras. Last year Aaron showed interests in going there. As a planner plus a dreamer, I planned out a nine-day trip from Zion National Park, the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, to Monument Valley, and then circling back to Vegas through the south rim of Grand Canyon. From budget to food to things to do and see. It seems that this dream trip will not come true any time soon, so Red Rock Canyon became a tiny sample of my grand mission.
